Welcome

The CoolRVers were actually a couple of retirees, Judy and Luke Rinehimer and their rescue German Shepherd dog, Miss Shady Lady. We were "extended-time" travelers for many years with a homebase in Cool, California for 40 years. Luke passed away in May 2019 and I continued to RV. Many followed along with our travels throughout North America in our 40' "rolling condo" and our later downsized Class C motorhome, enjoying the RV lifestyle. Your comments are always welcomed.

I’m Baaaaack…..

Okay, I’m guilty.  It has been five months since I have updated the blog.  I haven’t a good excuse – busy, lazy, or all of the above.  I don’t make New Years Resolutions, but we are back on the road so the time is right to get back into the blogging habit.  First a look back at the rest of our 2012 travels.

SUMMER WRAP-UP

When I last left you on July 30th we were in Oregon.  A quick recap on that trip included a nine-day stop in La Pine, Oregon to visit my niece Susan and hubby Richard and my nephew Gary and his wife Sandra.  We did take a side trip to Bend to visit my great niece Laura and to meet her newest addition, Lucas.  We took him and his sister Hanna to a local river park and then a playground.  Hanna was introduced to the sport of Geocaching and received a souvenir Pathtag from our Escapees Geocaching Club.

Boomer Fix

From there we dropped south through Central Oregon with a stop at Crater Lake RV Park in Prospect where we caught up with Boomers ZoAnn Lapinsky and John Mason.  We were in the area to not only visit Crater Lake, but to also see Boomers Madeline and Jerry Stephens who were workamping at the Lost Creek Reservoir Visitor Center.  The highlight of this trip was a raft trip on the Upper Rogue River. It wasn’t a white knuckle Class III river run, but rather a fun-float trip with an occasional encounter with some minor rapids and lots of laughter.  Lunch at a local BBQ wagon and a tour of the local fish hatchery where the Stephens volunteer made for a great day.

CRATER LAKE

The Stephens had to return to work, but the four of us planned a day trip around the extraordinarily beautiful Crater Lake.    We took the NP shuttle bus with a local guide so everyone could enjoy the views.

Our Summer Trip ended with an overnight stay in Redding, CA where the temperature upon arrival was 111 degrees and the skies were filled with smoke from area wildland fires.  We got home on August 12, in time to help celebrate our daughter Robin’s 4oth birthday and our grandson Tanner’s 10th birthday.
